The Parks Edit 001

Hi and welcome to The Parks Edit.

I’m Magnolia, which you probably already know and I’m writing this to you vaguely hungover on a spectacularly average Monday morning here in London.

I’m not sure how you spent your weekend, but we spent ours for a minute over in Paris, because BJ wanted to go to the Lanvin showroom — Bruno Sialelli is doing a fantastic job, don’t you think? Anyway, we didn’t stay long — in and out, just. And then Sunday was flitting from brunch at the Chiltern Firehouse to too many drinks at Beaufort Bar — and no matter what The Sun is reporting right now, I just want to officially say that BJ and I didn’t stay at the Savoy and hypothetically, if we had, nothing would have happened anyway. And even if it did (which it didn’t. Because we weren’t there.) but if it did — that’d be none of your business anyway. I shouldn’t write these hungover.

Anyway, by the grace of god, I’ve strung together a daytime outfit for us.

Magnolia AM

I’m loving the Peter Pan collar Saint Laurent is bringing out this season — it’s not just them, I know but the scalloped layering is a nice touch. Paired with this simple Gucci cardigan that they’re calling perforated wool because I don’t know why? They like being difficult sometimes I think. Perforated is an unappealing word, it’s like a pointelle-style light knit, which sounds much more delicate and is a far better name and who do you have to fuck around here to get an invite at the Gucci table, honestly?

Anyway, then we’ve got the little navy chunky heels from Sarah Chofakian and the Fendi knitted logo socks in white — bunch them around your ankles, I think. We don’t need them knee-high in the summer. All of it’s tied together with this buttercup yellow tote from Bottega Veneta, and it’s bigger than you think it is. I like it better held under your arm than by the strap but that’s just me, and I find BJ much more susceptible to holding my bags if it’s more clutchy, less handbag-y.

For a cute dinner this week, here’s what I’m thinking:

Magnolia PM

Firstly, I am loving the resurgence of tennis skirts, they’re the only sportswear that is adorable enough to be considered an acceptable item of clothing for everyday life and this pleated-knit mini skirt from Balmain has a delightfully elevated touch, don’t you think?

Toss on a cute crop like this tweed guy from Valentino and a bright cardigan from whoever you want but I like this one from Balenciaga because it hangs a sliver longer than where the skirt stops on my legs and that makes a cute silhouette.

I’d be lying if I said this outfit for me wasn’t completely built around being able to wear these bow mules from Off-White, I’m dying for them — aren’t you? Probably a nice, simple bag like the Devotion tote from Dolce & Gabbana, and then just style it with your favourite piece of jewellery. I’ll be wearing that necklace I never take off and also probably this Heart Tag that I bought all my friends in high school with our names on the back.

BJ and I swapped ours a few months ago, haven’t swapped back yet. Probably should. Probably won’t though.

And because I love clothes, not at all because I’m controlling or possessive or anything — here are two of the outfits I’ll be ‘encouraging’ BJ to wear this week…

BJ AM

BJ’s style is substantially more street than mine, so I’m going to pop him in the TNF Bandana Mountain parka from Supreme which is virtually sold out everywhere because it’s incredible.

He bought this Thrasher t-shirt the other day that he loves but I don’t get it, but again, I’m not controlling so — sure, wear that with the Chitch Kolor Stitch distressed jeans from Ksubi. I wish there was a tiny bit more in the knees, but anyway. Those jeans with the Dress Blue & True White Sk8-Low Vans which — as you know already, and much to my dismay, are really the only shoes he ever wears. He’ll toss on a bunch of bracelets because he’s into them right now.

BJ PM

For a night look, Beej loves a loud shirt. I’m completely besotted with Dolce & Gabbana this season, so I’m going to toss him into their Leopard print shirt and pair it with the Off-White Varsity cardigan, which if I’m honest, BJ doesn’t organically wear cardigans himself but he looks good in everything and there are so many cardigans men's labels are pushing this season that I love, and I like wearing his cardigans myself, so I need to really push the cardigan angle.

Anyway. Ksubi Van Winkle ribbed-knee jeans are our pant of choice and no prizes for guessing the shoe…. I could try to put him in a Chelsea, I know. He just complains the whole time, says that he doesn’t like the way he sounds when he walks in them. It’s just not worth the headache, so it’s the Old Skool Vans in Incense and True White for the no-complaining win. He’ll probably wear a bracelet, like that one from Alexander McQueen he got the other day, and then knowing him, he’ll wear my ring and my heart necklace too.

So that’s the vibe for us this week. Except that there is no us. Don’t read into that. We aren’t together and definitely please keep it at the forefront of your mind that we absolutely didn’t stay at The Savoy and nothing happened anyway @bridget mind your own fucking business.

And remember— Love fades, but things are forever.

And remember, if you see me out and about, just remember — I don’t like strangers so.
